I hate the idea of getting rid of the penny - but for no logical reason. It would be logical to get rid of it.
Why? No one else joined us in going to the moon. We have been the trailblazers, the innovators, and the ones who share what we have with the world.
I would never pretend to know what is best for a country I have not grown up in and personally had a life long, first hand experience in being a part of their culture and history. Please note my next question is said in a non-negative way...
Why should we parrot the world? We have never had a need to before and have done well not only for ourselves, but the rest of the world has also benefited overall. A lot of countries even have their freedom today b/c we did not just "go with the flow."
There is no logical reason based on factual data to say the US needs to "join the club." To me its ridiculous to say the US needs do something b/c everyone else is. I grew up with a mother who always said, "if all your friends jump off a cliff will you jump too?"
NOT that using coins in other countries is foolish! But I certainly am glad the US does NOT parrot the world - especially with things like our Second Amendment and other freedoms!
