I had this in my collection for several years and just never got around to sending it in. Just wish it were in better condition. John Wexler listed this in his files as 1941 WDDO-023. These photos are from John Wexler's web site.

Excellent! That has to be about the widest spread of any Lincoln Cent doubled die. What did John say about that?

Nice indeed. How about a photo of the entire obverse and reverse?

I am curious. How does that even happen that far apart? Did the planchet get rotated in some manner?

Wow! That's insane! Is it real? I know it is. That's got to be the farthest spread on any coin ever! The was some serious rotation when the die was being made.

Woah! I'm surprised that coin hasn't been discovered before now! I thought I was looking at a double strike for a second

CoinCollector thanks "double strike" was the terminology I was looking for. But, then Abe would have 2 heads as well? Images of full coin would be great - I am surprised that they are not on Wexler's (it must be in pretty bad shape overall).

I agree that it does look more like a rotated doubled strike than a doubled die, but if John Wexler examined it and said it is a doubled die, it must be a doubled die. With a spread like that, being a doubled die, I am surprised it hasn't made a few waves.
