I made my decision. I am going with CAPS albums. Got my first shipment this week and to add insult to injury, it came in a Dansco Box! I hope for the sake of the Dansco lovers on this forum that Dansco re-evaluates their commitment to coin collectors. But I have made my decision and their is no going back!

As long as you are happy, and it seems you are, then good job! I like the look of the CAPS albums, but I feel like I am too old to start over.

I don't think I could have made this decision if I had a sizable collection already stored in albums. I spent the time and money on many different styles of storage, including polypropylene 20 slots for cardboard flips, Eagle hard plastic pages for 2x2 coin snaps, Dansco and Littleton albums, and CAPS pages.
So now I am starting with an almost clean slate with the CAPS album. For ME, it was the best compromise between appearance, convenience, and safety. That said, I still like the look of Dansco albums and probably would "standardized" on them had the stock of their annual, cent through half dollar page been available. Further investigation seemed to indicate that Dansco was not producing new albums OR update pages for existing albums.
That troubled me. I did not want to start storing my collection in a system that might or might not be available in the future to complete the collection. So CAPS won out in the "competition."

Well, with my yearly order from wizard supply coming up soon I am going to order extra pages for cents, Nickels, dimes and halves. Just in case they don't make the supplement pages any longer.

Bud250r, Sounds like a great plan. I know I have seen MANY out of stock notifications when looking for Dansco pages (and albums). Hope you find what you need.
jbuck, thanks. I appreciate all the help I have received from CCF members in helping to make this decision. It is a great group.

Apparently I am the only one who loves Littleton albums I just think they look sharp. Whats caps?

I found the Littleton album hard to work with. The transparent slides tend to get stuck outside the holes and the smaller coins can slip between the two layers. That said, my first album was a Littleton album. CAPS stands for Collector's Archival Protection System. It allows you to display your Air-Tite protected coins in an album. website http://www.capsalbums.com/

Why is Dansco always so slow to market with updated albums and album pages? Are we ever going to see a Quarters album which includes the "S" mint state with the "S" proofs (I assume I can give up on the limited edition versions as part of my in book collectibles)? As a collector for 45 years plus the amount of money I have put into Dansco only to be met with a "who cares what you want" attitude has gotten really old. They have made huge amounts of money from the collectors and their sense of responsibility to us is nil. Please relay my feelings to them as it seems they do not want to publish a web address (too many complaints I assume)

When I first was switching to albums, I only got a few Whitman albums before I switched to Dansco. I now have 29 Dansco albums. I don't want the expense of switching all those, but I might have to switch for anything new.

No need to switch if the albums are still good. If you are worried, just stock up for the future; buy some albums for things you might collect one day.

Other than in my Type Set, I don't have any of the Barber coins: dime, quarter, half, etc. But I don't like that design.
