A CCF member just found out the hard way--if you send money via email to anyone who has a PayPal account registered to a different email addresss--they might not be able to access that money.

It's my first-hand experience where I was sent money--but since I have my bank accounts registered to another paypal address, I cannot redeem or return the money sent. Essentially it becomes PayPal's undeserved property!

I wish I could figuratively storm the "Paypal Fortress" and demand that money returned. Yeah...if only I could do that for real.

Just a heads-up for members--avoid this money trap!

Do you mean sent to a different person?

Like I meant to send money to CCF456@hotmail.com but I type CCF456@gmail.com?

Spedward, I had this happen once before, and I tried finding a human at PayPal to complain to. Unfortunately, all that happens is you hit a wall of corp-speak and form replies. While I might tolerate PayPal at times, I find it's a rather bad company if anything at all goes wrong. I don't think PayPal would exist today if ebay didn't leverage business from its members. The fees are high, and the service is low--go figure.

All I ever received from Paypal throughout this time were those terrible, pathetic, brain dead form letters of theirs, which in the end say absolutely nothing!

Snooba, that sure sounds familiar! Essentially, they're saying "get lost--we don't care." What a deserving rant! I hope somebody turns the tables on PayPal.

GO, I should elaborate that in this particular situation, a person sent money to an email addy that was an old PayPal account, which due to the Byzantine methods of that company, the seller cannot cancel the sent money, nor can I access/return it. Effectively the money is in limbo--and PayPal's property. Add to that the fee they charge for this "transaction".

It seems to me, Kurt, that You have a potential cicil lawsuit to file against PayPal. Problem is whether it is worth the lawyer fees to fight them. Perhaps a strongly worded letter from your attorney would be enough?

What if the member who sent the payment filed a claim saying he didn't receive the item. Paypal might actually refund that money.
