I'm new hello. California girl here. I've saved a lot if coins over the years. Just because they are old and look cool. I have no clue what they are worth it if they are even real. I don't know if I'm even considered a collector. I just watch your group and you all seen very knowledgeable. I'd appreciate being taught what and how to look for coins to keep.ok is there such thing as a Half Dime? I got one in change yesterday. Thanks

Congrats on your find... With that kind of luck, you should play the lottery... I lived in Sonoma County for 12 years... Also post some pics of front and back... There are people here who can tell if it's a real coin or a fake.

Just the fact that you don't know something doesn't make you stupid. The fact that you then seek help makes you quite smart actually. If only more people did that, this world would be a better place. Having said that, yes, there is a Half Dime and you should consider yourself very lucky to have gotten one in circulation! It's an understatement to say that they don't appear very often in circulation.

Sabbite: to the CCF ! I love one of the most interesting exports of California: My daughter in Law grew up in So Cal. San Diego, to be exact. The Beach Boys were right ! I have two U.S. Commemorative Halves: SF - Oakland - Bay Bridge and San Diego- Pacific International Exposition. I have stood in the scene on the SD coin; it is in Balboa Park. SF Zoo close by, the first outside Australia to show Koalas. SF Mint made some Australian WW2 .925 sterling silver coins: Threepences, Sixpences, Shillings and Florins. San Francisco and Sydney are 'Twin Cities'. There are lots of guys and gals here in the CCF, who would be able to identify your coins for you, and contribute an opinion on their grade and value.

Finding a Half Dime in change is next to impossible. If you did find one, it should look like this... Please post a pic of it. We are all hoping that you did find one.
