Three Cent piece, and the silver kind too. I haven't looked into the prices on these because I haven't gotten that far in my collection yet. But if I would have to guess, a Three Cent Silver piece like that in that type of condition, 30 dollars would seem like the going price for such a coin. Not bad.

The local coin dealer at the store said Three Cent pieces were only minted because at the time that was the price of stamps. 3 cents apiece. He also said thats the only reason why 3 dollar gold pieces were minted as well, because that would buy you a book of 100 stamps.
It looks like it might be a problem free coin. $30 is decent retail for that coin. I definitely wouldn't want to pay more for it, but you probably did fine.
Hard to tell from the photos provided, but assuming it's problem free you did OK. Enjoy it! One thing for sure, at $30 you haven't lost your life savings or anything! :o)
