Dear coin collectors,
I am searching for a simple system to take pictures of my coins.
I know Leuchtturm has some items, but I am not sure what to choose.
The LT346680 is a microscoop, a 1 US cent is to big to fit the picture.
Anyone any experience?
Thanks

Hi Petrus

I think the LT346680 is not good idea for taking hi-res pictures.
It's output is only 640x480 VGA mode so hard to see what you take in higher resolution and small size VGA screen do not help.

You no need spent money for this small attached screen. Now USB cameras can out trough HDMI 1920x1080 to any modern TV and can grab 14-18 MP files to inner TF card without PC at all. They cost about $ 150-200 and optics for coins is about $50.

See my examples there

If you have a smart phone - the following, ver inexpensive system has been praised here by some of our best photographers. It will be well worth the time to check it out.

I am not after perfection in pics, but just want to be able to take some nice ones. So I went to Walmart and got their least expensive LED (with diffusing plastic built in) desk lamps at 5.00 each.

I put a piece of paper down beside a thick book. I lay the phone on the book so the camera lens sticks out over the coin (work to find the best height with multiple thin books). I position the lamps where I think the lgithing looks good. I also use the 2 second timer on the phone to make sure I do not jiggle the phone when taking the pic.

Here are some typical - very quickly and sloppily taken pics using my own method.

Obviously not as good as the ones in the thread mentioned above, but good enough for my use.

@Earle42
I have to explain the problem:
My daughter has bought me a LT346680 for my birthday.
She has no experience in taking pictures of coins.
I contacted the shop where she bought it. They are willing to take back the LT346680 but without refund. They propose I buy something else for the same amount...
I have now a self-built system with LED lights and an old Panasonic Lumix.
