After this contest started it came to my attention that the baby's eyes will most likely change color after birth, as most babies are born with grey eyes and then they change to their permanent eye color later. "No big deal I thought", I can wait a few days to post the results. But then I found out that it could take 9 months to a year for us to have a winner. So I discussed it with my wife (co-judge) and decided that since we don't know what color they will end up, and I didn't want to guess in case I was wrong, I will just assume that everyone got the eye color right (my fault for not researching enough ahead of time). So congrats, you are all in the running for the prize.

Ryan was born on May 10th in the early evening (which was his due date oddly enough (which only happens with 5% of babies I am told) so our winner (and the only person to guess May 10th) is mister kairu! I will be emailing you to let you know that you have won. Please send me your address and I will get your prize mailed out.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, constant support, and also to those of you who contributed to Ryan's first Silver Eagle and Silver Mint Proof Set. We are beyond excited for the future, and are so grateful to this community.

With it being 3 months about (and having my own now 9 month old son to deal with ;P) I completely forgot about this. Again, congrats on the baby boy! Replied to your PM

I had completely forgotten about this, too, and I was thrilled to hear about Ryan Mayflower's birth! Earle42, thanks for the idea to set the little guy onto his coin collection career right away - sure beats a silver spoon, IMHO. And congrats to Mr. Kairu - the only one sensible enough to bet that a child would actually appear on his due date.

The thread is growing so I am adding this reminder:

Let's all help get little Ryan his first coins...

For those reading this post who have not joined in, I am posting this again for you. Share in the joy!

OK guys,

I was going to wait until after the contest was over, but I got to thinking that after the event, people will not be checking here anymore.

So here is my idea.

Why don't we who can, and who have been enjoying this contest make sure Mayflower Jr. get's a great start in the numismatic hobby? I know we ALL would like to help, but realistically all of us know not everyone is able to contribute...its the thought that counts.

I suggest we each paypal Mayflower Sr. and his wife 5.00 to which they specifically will spend on:
1. A 2018 proof ASE
2. A 2018 Silver proof set.

I count 44 entrants. It would only take about 8 of us to make sure the new little one gets a proof 2018 for his birthday.

BTW - I did see the birth year set and thought it nice, but the ASE will always hold value, I wish they had a silver birth year set.

If we get 75% who are able to give, that would be 165.00 which would cover options 1 and 2 above.

The CCF family has gotten together like this before...so let's welcome our new little member in a way that will give his parents a story to tell him about when he is old enough.

For those who don't know how:
Click on Mayflower2020 above to go to his contact page.

Send an email asking for his email address so you will have his address to tell paypal where to send the gift.

When you are at paypal and go to send the money, make sure to find the "gift" option or paypal will keep some of the money you send.

I am sending Mayflower an email as soon as I post this.

Earle tells me I should post I donated, not to blow my horn, but to encourage others to do so. Well, there ya go Earle. :-)
Anyway, it would be neat in 5 or 7 years for Dad & Mom to show Ryan this thread and whatever came of it in the form of a coin he ended up getting from us. Hope when that happens he and the rest of the family are happy and healthy and having fun with coins.

And I agree showing Ryan the thread later is a great idea. Not just for the coins, but it will show him how excited Mom and Dad were about his arrival.

I hope the parents are enjoying the very early AM times they hear that music coming from the baby's room! They come and go so quickly. I spent some great and memorable times with my four kids in the wee hours of the AM.
