I came across this quarter with a strange patina and a deformed surface near Washington's cheek. The reverse seems relatively normal except for the color. Could it be from a fire or is it some kind of error? Sorry in advance but its tough to get a picture.

Probably fire damage. But I can understand why you would ask.

Thanks Moxking, it is cool looking so I think I will hold onto it anyway as an oddity.
Rest in Peace

I think moxking is right -- probably fire damage.

I think it took a pounding, too. Poor coin has had a hard life.
