Hi,Is the fact that this coin is dateless make it less collectible and have a much smaller premium. The dark areas are where the zinc is showing through.

Nice find! ! In general yes, without the date it would be less valuable. However, still very much collectable.

Ditto Spence. If left to air circulation that will be zinc dust in a few years.

I have had this coin for about 5 years, picked it up off ebay for about $10, at the moment I have it in a flip, what should I do to make sure it doesn't deteriorate. It still looks great although the picture might not show this as the zinc looks green.

Quote: what should I do to make sure it doesn't deteriorate Looks to me like this question is the subject of multiple prior CCF threads, although I asked the question because I honestly don't know the right answer. Using the keywords PRESERVING ZINC COINS, I found several interesting ones, including this early one: http://goccf.com/t/74795

I have some small ziplock bags that 2x2's fit in nicely, I guess if the zip lock is sealed correctly, that should work.

That will help, but also exposes it to another possible danger if the plastic bag contains PVC. If the bag is food safe, then it is PVC free. Something to consider. Otherwise, great coin and a good price on it!

You can buy a few or a large box. I bought a box of 250 cause I keep all my zincs in air-tights. Don't remember the cost, but worth it if you want the coin to last awhile. You would have to buy the denomination that the coin would fit in. Personally, I would not use plastic bags.

That is a good idea, fits neatly in a quarter size flip so I would imagine that the same would apply for an airtight.
