Is This A Real Barber Half Dollar Proof ?

einstem Valued Member United States 314 Posts	Posted 06/03/2018 3:54 pm I am starting to work on a Barber half dollar Collection(mainly in the "VG" range) but recently ran across an ebay listing for a "Proof" Barber half dollar. I had heard these are VERY RARE, so am surprised to see this listed, and the fact that it isn't in a SLAB makes it a bit suspect.. And if there are really only 755 ever minted, wouldn't this be worth a LOT more then $900 starting bid (unless there is a reserve I don't see mentioned..) Just wanted some experienced views on this. With several "proof" coins listed by guess is that he is familiar with the good old buffing wheel. Silk buffers can give this solid luster and you have to go to near microscopic analysis to see the results. Report this Post to the Staff
