Is there much of a following for Oregon trail coin collecting? I'm just curious, saw it in another thread and did not want to hi-jack thread. My only dealer in town was talking the other day about a coin someone had brought it. Said they don't want them as they can't find a market for them in our area. I thought they were nice looking coins but was the only time I had heard of them. Are they new/old/silver, etc? What's the skinny?

The Oregon Trail Memorial half dollar is a beautiful and often collected commemorative. They were minted different dates in the 1920s and 1930s. They are 90% silver.

Guess I will have to check them out. I'll be back in town in a couple days, I will stop and take a gander at it. Hope there are not an expensive coin.... the morgans have put a whooping on the budget for now.
I take it I must be careful on grades and cleaning on those too?

In my opinion, it is among the top classic commemoratives. I would like to own one in the near future.
