Not the greatest example but I've always wanted one of these. Charles I Group 3a1 Halfcrown, 1636-1638
Excellent add!

The current coin market in the UK appears to mostly consist of people holding onto anything nice! This means I don't often add to my main collection, so this is a rare (and welcome!) addition to my Charles I shillings.

Spink 2796, Sharp F3/1. Tun dates it to the Tower (of London) mint between 14 Feb 1636 and 8 May 1638.

A slight improvement on my old one, despite being a bit double struck to the reverse and showing some early die cracking to the obverse. Basically a typical Tower shilling!

A good, full coin with most of the edge beading showing and some pleasing old toning. And a nice bonus it having the CAROLVVS error (same dies as Brooker 516), though sadly that had to be where the flan is thinnest, didn't it? So the strike is a bit weak at that point. Well, you can't win them all! :D

Thanks! The portrait is a bit more detailed than my old one. And I like the fact it's on a broader flan and most of the edge beading shows. I wasn't desperate for an upgrade, but it caught my eye!

t360, could you please get in touch with me via email or something? I believe one of your coins to be a fake and would like to provide you with proof.

I study this coinage, and have been conducting a die study.

Terrific-Tudors-And-Stunning-Stuarts
This is one of the coins featured in this thread, which in actuality is a cast fake. Here are some more duplicates of the same "example"

Terrific-Tudors-And-Stunning-Stuarts
Another of the same user's coins is also a fake in my opinion, I want to email them and provide some insight / evidence, but since I have a new account it will not let me. Can any moderators please enable my account for emailing other users please?
