Dave42 Pillar of the Community United States 571 Posts	Posted 07/26/2019 10:48 am Pet peeve of mine, but I wish people would stop referring to the 1988 transitional varieties as " Wide AM" or " Close AM". The AM really has no difference between the two types. It's all in the design of the FG. RDV-005 and RDV-006 is a much more useful designator for these coins. They do that because for some unknown reason that is how PCGS labels the transitional variety. They put " Wide AM" on the label, so people go looking for the Wide AM and guess what, they find it! (Because EVERY 1988 cent has a Wide AM rev) and they assume it must be the transitional variety. Report this Post to the Staff
