Does ICCS follow the Sheldon coin grading scale (1-70)? Because I heard they only go up to 68 not sure if this is true or not.
Thank you for the help!

It is true, they have never given a 69 or 70.

Do they just ignore 69 and 70 and use 68 as the new 70 and 67 as the new 69

Using the Sheldon numerical grade assignments assumes all of those commonly used stops are relevant and available.
Not using any of them is just plain stupid.

Agreed but it's much too late to change it now!

I'm not sure did they avoid the grades on purpose or they've just never seen one about SP/PR/MS-68..I don't think for a Canadian coin PCGS has gone above a 68+ either...

They have not seen one? I wonder if its worth setting a Canadian record and send a modern coin first day issue to cross over. Something already graded as MS70 from PCGS/NGC. 5 dollar 2016 Canada silver. Process of elimination.

Listed two coins yesterday that were originally First Release NGC SP69s that someone crossed to ICCS, both receiving SP67 designations. Edited to add First Rele ASE

This is like viewing a numismatist's version of the movie Spinal Tap. "This one goes to eleven."

Quote: Do they just ignore 69 and 70 and use 68 as the new 70 and 67 as the new 69 Good question...I've often wondered that myself. Of the tens of thousands of coins they've graded over the years, have they never seen an MS69 or 70?

Quote: I don't think for a Canadian coin PCGS has gone above a 68+ either... If you consider newfoundland coin to be canadian, there is a 1912 5 cents graded ms-69 by PCGS : https://www.PCGSeurope.com/cert/25611065?l=fr(the pedigree is not surprising)

PCGS and NGC have graded plenty of Canadian NCLT coins at 69 and 70, but generally not business strikes (which makes perfect logical sense, as they are never "perfect" as a result of their production/handling).
ICCS will not use 69 or 70, period. A completely mark free, absolutely fully struck and absolutely brilliant PR/PL/SP coin *may* receive the 68 grade, but quite often comes back as 67 instead. That's just the way they do things at our little Canadian company.
