Attribution By Dealers And Auction Houses

I ran across a coin today which was sold by Spinks, archived here. What struck me is this particular coin was sold as the 1844 E/N for a high price, although it's not this variety (IMO).
I suppose I'm making a point here that every attribution should be verified, whether it's a raw coin or in a slab. I feel that often too much trust is placed in TPGs, dealers, or auction houses. Everyone makes mistakes, so we need to look out for ourselves.

Here is the coin reportedly sold by Spinks for £150.
There should be an N visibly stamped under the E in Regina.
