I am trying to find infomation on this commemorative coin. One side has the numbers/date? 1838 and these words around the edge:
Novo Civitatis Neapolis Patrono Divo vincento Ferrerio
which losely is something like "new town of Naples, Blessed Patron Vincent Ferrerio"
The other side has this text:
A. DIV. DELLA CONGREGA DELLSS ROSARIO IN OCASSIONE DEL TERREMOTO DEL 1870
which losely says something about a congregation and a rosary in occasion of the earthquake of 1870
If anyone can translate or give me more info about the coin I would appreciate it.

I don't know what A. DIV. stands for. I suspect "Congrega" stands for "Congregazione" (congregation). Dellss isn't a word in Italian. I think it reads as "Dell SS Rosario". (Initials, and the last name: of SS Rosario). So we have "A DIV of the congregation of SS Rosario on the occassion of the earthquake of 1870." I will try and find some info. Now that I think of it, SS probably stands for a Saint, since each town has their own patron saint. (I.E. Santo Stefano)

Just to clarify, technically this is a commemorative medal of some kind, and not a "coin". As such, it won't be listed in a coin catalogue.

Not sure what the earthquake of 1870 is being referred to; there was a 6.9 magnitude quake that struck that city in 1857; maybe it commemorates the re-opening of a church after being closed for repairs since the earthquake.

This CONGREGA DEL SS ROSARIO probably means "Congregazione del Santissimo Rosario" (Congregation of the Most Holy Rosary). In 1870 there was an earthquake in the province of Cosenza (4 October); you can look them up here http://storing.ingv.it/cfti4med/ But I don't quite see the connection to Naples yet. Hmm.

Thank you all for your help, and for giving me the correct terminology for the medal. The DELLSS is followed by a superscipt o followed by a dot. The A and DIV are also followed by dots so possibly an abbreviation? The medal was brought back by a member of the 36th Div. in WWII and donated to our museum. They served in Italy in 1943 to 1944.
