2002 D Tennessee Quarter Stuck On Silver Planchet

jrsvarieties New Member United States 10 Posts	Posted 02/19/2020 4:23 pm I just found a 2002 D quarter that may be struck on silver planchet. I have my doubts, but sure does look like it. the only reason I doubt it is it weight 5.66 grams. I also know that if it was supposed to be silver it would of been struck in San Francisco and would have S mint mark, this coin has D mint mark. The only reason I even question this coin is its edge. I found coin roll hunting, opened a roll up and there is nice silver edge looking at me, I was amazed and puzzled when I seen it was a 2002 D State Quarter. Is it possible that all the copper was covered during strike. There is absolutely no copper showing. Report this Post to the Staff

Rather common in circulation once people who inherit (or steal) them realize they are not worth what they cost.
