coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/11/2020 1:20 pm Not the rims first on your coin. The rims are raised to protect the design on the faces of the coin. When the rims are showing a flat appearance when they should be rounded, then the coin has a lot of circulation wear on it. That is why when the coin grading gets down to the 'Good' or 'Fair' range the design suffers. On the 'VG' the rims are still present, but when they go away, then the coin becomes a 'Good' grade. That is why it looks different on your coin because of the coin wear. Not a plus for the coin. If there is/was a premium, it drops as the coin gets worn more. Report this Post to the Staff
