kind of odd damage. no visible bending/deformation.

Just taken a hit that has flattened the rim and part of the U.
You can see where the rim is protruding slightly from the displaced metal. ( PMD)

It is a little odd that with this amount of deformation on one side, there is not a corresponding spot on the other. I wonder if this wasn't field down rather than squished. Either way, I agree that it is damage.

Also the coin is no longer totally round. It was pushed on out of line by the damage.
