This type of damage suggests to me that you have a Dryer Coin there. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/22/2022 8:08 pm When you look at what happens to a die when a Cud appears, you are shocked at what happened: Note how the outside edges of the dies were affected? A big loss of metal on that area. How does the happen? When the die breaks away it is not a single strike episode. It starts with a single crack. Then the single crack connects with a second crack. Then it forms a Retained Cud: Somewhere down the line that area will break away and then a Cud will happen: While this is not the same die, but you can tell that a lot broke away to form this Cud coin. So a Cud is a large area breaking off of the die. As on your coin it is not anything like a real Cud. But I thought you might need to see what the die goes through, before a Cud actually happens.
