ok onthis 2014 D penny I picked up at the dollar store but I'm pretty sure I have found my first doubled sys am I riught or am I wrong because I'm about 50 percent I'm right it could be a die crack on hi nose
Given the posted pics, I'm not seeing evidence of a doubled die. The nose appears to have taken a circulation hit. The close-in photo of Abe's face has much glare and is somewhat difficult to evaluate.
On a doubled ear, the area of doubling will be a copy of the ear design, and raised, not incuse. Incuse marks on coin are 99% of the time, just damage to a coin. When you look closer a doubled ears, you will see what I'm saying is true. So take some time and look at the image below, enlarging the images to see why these are doubled ears. Click on the image to enlarge and look closer at each example. (that way you will be training your eyes on what to look for on the doubled ears)
CoopHome: Why are incuse marks on an earlobe not a doubled ear? doubled ears are raised, and not incuse on the lobe
