The flake of silver seems to be on top of the planchet rather than seperating from it,, which would make it a lamination error. Rick Report this Post to the Staff

If it presents to much agony on your eyes just let me know and I will buy it and hide it away!! Report this Post to the Staff

Susanlynn9 Forum Mom United States 5877 Posts	Posted 03/20/2006 10:54 pm I don't know if you can tell from the pic, but there is actually an extra piece of metal bonded to the coin. There must have been a metal scrap in the die or laying on the planchet when it was struck and the strike bonded it with the coin. That is what it appears like with the coin in hand. It has been struck through and there are denticles and some of the reverse design imprinted on it. It is one of the nicest error coins I've seen, especially since it's an obsolete type.
