this is the coin I mentioned in the other thread and I think I have it narrowed down to being a 1885 1A with a pitted reverse because it looks just like the picture in the VAM book so this is just for confirmation that everyone else see's the same thing I am seeing. there is a scratch on the old green holder and I tried to work around it to show the pitting but if its in the way I will try to take some more and try to work around the scratch again a little more but I think this picture is good enough for confirmation

That's a dead ringer for the one identified at Ashmore as VAM 1A1. I'd say it's official.

Thank you I thought I had it narrowed down correctly but wanted confirmation from coin collectors/experts I just always like having that second opinion.

It's a nice piece. As you'll soon be able to tell elsewhere on the site, I have a fondness for pitted Morgans.

VERY NICE COIN!!!

Below are your photos image-linked into the thread.

You can do this yourself by copying and pasting your pictures url address inside the set of image brackets that pop up when you click on that little yellow box with the mountains in the format menu.

Try it!! I think you like it and makes your coins show up in the thread so everyone can easily see how cool your coin really is!!

Ok Newbie question ?

Is the VAM the pitting or is the pitting a die diagnostic for the VAM?
