Yeah...yuck. I've never seen one personally yet. But I've been kind of on a campaign to return as many quarters to circulation as possible this year to try to reduce the number of these hideous designs made to begin with. I still can't get over how much the Edith Kanaka'ole quarter from earlier this year looks like foreign money to me, being the first quarter since 1891 not to contain the words "Quarter Dollar".

It's actually my favorite design this year of the quarters. In silver proof it's well executed. As to appeal, some people like Ike dollars and Ben half dollars, those coins are way uglier than the Jovita quarter.

This is an example of where text becomes (or tries to become) art.
For me, it was not successful. From a graphics design, it doesn't make sense that her face is straightforward and then her bust goes all-out Peter Max. We need consistency here, people!

How can you not like Ike dollars? On the front, an American hero who led the charge to rid the world of the Nazi menace. Eisenhower might well be our greatest military leader since George Washington. On the back, the eagle on the moon, possibly the greatest achievement in human history. Also, that reverse is just sooooo 1970s style. And finally, it's a BIG COIN. Gotta love a big coin. You can spend it as a buck or use it as a coaster.

I would agree with both the U.S. Idar Quarter and Canada Bell Dollar being two of the worst designed modern coins.

This is actually my favorite Washington quarter design, so I'm surprised it's so unpopular. Then again, I also like SBA's a lot, so perhaps my taste is far off the norm

I like it, I think the uncirculated high grades and errors may sell for some decent amounts in the coming months. It took me a little while, but think it will appeal to collectors.

Well, those giant blank fields are going to pick up circulation dings and bag marks like crazy. A high grade example might be hard to come by after a short time.
I kinda feel like a lot of these coins are designed for how they look as proofs, and not necessarily how the circulation strikes will weather after a decade in people's pockets.

too much of nothing on both the fields and the devices on the reverse.

I agree with Jbuck. I recently got my slabbed proof of it and like it.

Personally I don't think it looks bad still and like it, only mainly first that without the added mottos on the blank spaces as in the other proposed design that wasnt used, it looks more like an obverse design to me than a reverse and a bit out of place when viewing among the other reverses. However it is a bold and different design that differs from the typical standard mint release and thats good since there are so many coins released. The only other comment is that the photo of the Jovita Ida I found below looks much more like the original design that we were discussing I liked, and less like the final coins image. I don't know why it was changed so much.
