Time for Spring Cleaning! Found a bag of dateless Buffs in an old coffee can. I used to get these in change at coins shows, but not in a long while. Time to put them back in circulation. If you live around Boston, check your change, you might find one.  |

Good for you. I put at least 100 cull Indian cents (with dates) back into circulation every year. |

@John1 - No, I don't check for errors or varities - I leave those for future collectors and their eagle eyes.
@mrwhatsit - There are some weak date coins in there, but I have to focus my collection and have no real reason to keep bags of low-value coins.
@Coinfrog - nice to hear about those Indians! I dropped a bunch into circulation last year, maybe 50 or so I don't remember.
@jacrispies - that's a great use for Buffalos! I love to play the slots (but the new machines just use tickets and cards - blah!!)

@Dearborn - yes, that's the fun part!
On a related note, I've been spending $2 bills for the last few years and get lots of comments. Last year I dropped a red-seal $2 bill in a tip jar and watched the clerks examine it. They were excited!
I'll use many of these Buffs in fare vending machines on the MBTA in Boston. So I wont see the reactions but they'll still be out there.

I spent a couple of Buffalo nickels when I was in the USA at the end of 2021. I also used a cull V nickel in a vending machine. As I collect elongated coins, I save any cull IHCs and Wheaties so that I can roll them in penny machines - copper cents roll much better than Zincolns. |

@NumisRob - great to hear stories like this! Even at my advanced age I'm excited to find something as simple as a common Wheat cent in my change. So finding a cull V nickel or Indian cent etc is really fun. I think a lot of people, even non-collectors, get a big kick out of finding these old coins in the wild. A smile is always priceless. Love that idea. I have been doing the same (releasing) dateless buffs for years. That raised date platform like the SLQ's was a terrible idea that lasted for way too long. I do hold on to the SLQ's though, but I can't find them anymore.
