It looks like it has been stripped of its copper. Put a regular cent over it and see if it is the same size.

The penny weights 2.37
It's the same as ordinary penny but it feels different

The Cent only weighs 2.37g because it is missing the copper layer making it lighter. It would feel different because you are feeling the zinc core as opposed to copper plating. It is considered damage with no extra value.

Copper plating has been stripped. PMD. Worth 1 cent.

Doesn't the copper plating weigh about a gram per side? If so then that would explain the 2.37gram weight instead of the usual 2.5g.

Quote: Doesn't the copper plating weigh about a gram per side? Approximately 0.05 grams total. So, the typical non-plated cent would be 2.45 grams. Looking at the Weight Tolerances, I see the Zincoln is 2.40 grams to 2.60 grams. Pull off the 0.05 gram of plating, a non-plated cent should be around 2.35 to 2.55 grams, right where this one sits.

Looks as some of the copper plating remains on the reverse.
