Not sure if anyone else made the mistake of ordering off this type ad on social media, and many other platforms. 1st the ad says estate sale from Missouri USA. Ive seen same ad with similar wording on every social media and sale platforms that sound like eway and/or slamazon ( sorry didnt know if I should say but definetly want to help anyone on this site) anyway the coins come directly from china and are very nice counterfeits, some examples are 1916 Mercury dimes, 1916 Standing Liberty quarters etc. My friend and I ordered and essentially got the same coins. I tried to make a review many times and every time I'd make the review it would not let it go through it would not post it but then I put five stars and put a review with it starting off good and then ending completely badly obviously and it was up for a little while but then came off also I wrote to them directly and told them that they are selling counterfeit coins and that it has been reported. I also reported this and told the payment platform which was SayPal and they just wrote it off like it was something that they take care of but of course it never was. So hopefully nobody will make this mistake they did not say what coins were coming they just sent a variety but the variety was the exact same basically as what my friend got and like I said was completely counterfeit so be careful out there with any of those sales thank you

A scam that has been around for a very long time. ebay has had, and probably still does have, those scams also. Well next time, now that you are here, just run the picture with a description of what you are interested in and have the members here give you their opinions - you will not be steered wrong.

@thum, first welcome to CCF. Second, thx for the warning about purchasing coins like these from less than trustworthy places. Lastly, you will see that I lightly edited your post to remove a potentially offensive phrase. We try very hard to keep this forum family-safe. Thx.

Sorry this happened to you. Definitely lots of knowledgeable, helpful folks on this site to help try to differentiate between the good, the bad and the ugly. I'm new here to this forum myself (but not new to numismatics), but I've learned a fair bit in a short time and hope to be able to offer help myself over time.
Good luck, and don't let one bad experience put you off. We all make purchases we shouldn't for one reason or another. Learn from it and move on. Remember the old saying: if it's too good to be true it probably is.
Do not read this sentence.

To CCF! That's a bummer. For future references, run it by us before purchasing.

Knowledge is power. Scammers bank on buyers' lack of knowledge.
Even a small amount of diligence & learning can be powerful weapons with which to fight these foes.

Lack of knowledge and even more importantly GREED. Which brings back the mantra "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. (Too good to be true)"
