1834 Capped Bust Dime - Is All This Damage From The Mint?

The marks at 1 are suspect and the gouges right at 3 look like PMD. Sap Moderator Australia 16884 Posts	Posted 10/21/2025 9:47 pm If I had to guess what I thought happened to this coin: it was soldered as jewellery or otherwise mounted onto something. This attachment was then removed with such force that a piece of the coin tore away - in effect, an artificial delamination. The gouge marks we're seeing at 1 and 3 o'clock are from whatever tool was used to wedge underneath the coin to prise it away.
