Quote: E&V, I have a pair of details grade 1857 FEC sitting on my desk. I bought a cheap and damaged mule clash cent, but the seller sent me a different (and lousy) coin, and then a less bad coin to avoid a refund. I will post pictures of both tomorrow. You are welcome to either. That's very generous of you, Brandmeister. I'll be looking forward to seeing the pictures of them on CCF. Did you leave any neutral or negative feedback for that seller? Or did you leave a positive feedback? Just curious, since the seller avoided a refund.

It was an attempted cherrypick for eight bucks. I was mildly disappointed to not get the coin, but the seller made a good faith effort to fix the mistake at his own expense. Had it been $30+, I would have just requested a refund and then returned the coin. I think neutral or negative feedback are for bigger transactions where a seller intentionally tries to cheat me or has genuinely terrible customer service. It's worth pointing out that the only negative feedback that I've ever left on eBay—which was entirely justified by the seller lying to weasel out of a cherrypick—was removed by ebay a day later. Their own customer service rep acknowledged that it was obvious the seller lied when canceling the sale. So if ebay just scrubs neutrals and negatives anyway, why risk repercussions by having a disagreement with someone?

Coin is on the way. I sent it non-machinable, so it's anyone's guess how long that will take to arrive.
