I bought this off of ebay for 8.46, plus 0.78 for shipping. It's heavily worn and has a hole, but it was pretty cheap, so I bought it. For under 10 dollars, I couldn't resist. https://www.ebay.com/itm/327087151416

Thank you, Marv65. It has definitely seen better days, Marv65. But it was cheap. I'll buy one in better shape at some point.

You should hold back on some of these beaters until you can get a nice one. You'll regret these purchases in the future (voice of experience).

Good advice, HondoB. I'll listen. For the Large Cents, I try to buy the nicest ones, as long as they aren't a fortune.

Thank you, Dearborn. I plan on upgrading this one at some point. Maybe next month, if I can. I just bought it, since it was cheap. I got to stop buying all these beater coins.

Meh! Buy what you like - we only live once. Like my Grandfather told me: "It's only money, spend it while you can on what you want - can't take it to the grave with you!"

You can't take it with you, but sometimes you later decide that it could have been better spent on something you enjoy more. As Spock once said: "You may find, in time, that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."

Ten bucks is a couple beers at happy hour, but I've occasionally had the same regret that Hondo described.

Yeah - I found that out with my ex-wife. I'm living so much better off without her and all her problems............

It's possible - I bought some pretty nice ones for $25 off of ebay "Buy It Now" - you just have to spend some time searching through all of the listings.........

Which is one of the reasons I stopped going to bars at the end of the last century (when they were cheaper than that). Now, ten bucks is a 12-pack.

Thank you, Marv. Very true statement. I agree.

I do plan on getting a nicer problem free Flying Eagle cent eventually. Probably next month. I was getting tight on money, so I bought this one for now. I was buying a few coins this month. I went kinda nuts. I've been working on my Large Cent collection, so that's been costing me some money.

Heh. Back when I was too dumb to know better, a crazy and beautiful young lady scorched into my brain the abrupt realization that beauty fades but crazy is forever. A quarter century later, she remains the single biggest bullet that I have ever dodged.

E&V, I have a pair of details grade 1857 FEC sitting on my desk. I bought a cheap and damaged mule clash cent, but the seller sent me a different (and lousy) coin, and then a less bad coin to avoid a refund. I will post pictures of both tomorrow. You are welcome to either.
