keh New Member United States 32 Posts	Posted 04/19/2006 3:23 pm Here are the things I saw that made me believe the coin was polished, although I'm not expert either: 1. no cartwheel luster that you find on an untouched coin. 2. Dirt seen in deep recesses/scratches but rest of coin is bright/shiny/clean. 3. Shiny finish appears on all areas of coin, especially the flatter areas like the fields and Liberty's face. 4. Scratches and dings have a smooth, rounded off look. 5. Usually, coins with this much wear have a dark grey color. I've polished a lot of the aluminum bits in my car's engine bay. At first, it looks just like this coin. If I sand the scratches smooth with sandpaper, then polish, the piece will look as bright as chrome. Report this Post to the Staff

Morgan Fred Rest in Peace United States 2684 Posts	Posted 04/19/2006 11:38 pm keh has the symptoms of a problem coin well defined. I can't add to the list. This Morgan is a candidate for a bodybag. Too bad because it's not a particularly common Morgan. Still, it is now an inexpensive coin to fill a hole in someone's Morgan collection. Report this Post to the Staff
