is it really worth saving copper cents? who would you sell them to? I've got a bank that has 1400.00 in older pennies I've been searching seem like every roll has at least 20 pre 82 cents. I'm just looking for Wide AM,s double die smints and wheats. speaking of which I have around 65,000 wheat pennies. later greg

Just curiosity.... why start hoarding Copper cents?
Is it the overseen future value of unexpected mint marks? Maybe a recent coin?
I know, people have been hoarding coins for decades, then sell it.
What are your plans for your hoard.

Thanks!

I have two sandwich baggies full and I've started on the third. I've only been collecting (hoarding) for about four months.

For those of you asking why collect them, I do so because they're worth slightly more than a cent and might be valuable someday. They don't take up much room, and I figure why not?

I dug them out recently to put together a set for my grandson. He's going to have to find the keys on his own.

Hey SeatedNut. That is the same thing my grandfather did for me, and thats what got me started into collecting.

65,000 wheats? Holy cow. I have about 100 that I've pulled from rolls. I feel like seriously small fry now!

that many I haven't thrown into the bin yet. Why?....it relaxes

I have about 10,000 sorted by date and mint mark and probably 2,000 waiting in the wings for a "snow day". That may be a ways off in Florida. That is the hoard and doesn't include the few hundred in the "collection". Too many, now that I think about it.
