Hi,

I have an interesting astray with a coin soldered at the bottom, just wondering if a real coin or cast also if this coin actualy exists if fake. peace marked 925 sterling.

sorry, it wasn't me who made the ashtray. Yard Sale find, wonder how old the ash tray is.

Nice ashtray find! I've got one with some Mexican coins in it, nothing like that.

Probably not, but the ashtray looks a little bit like it might be silver.

I'm editing my edit, just saw the original post, .925 silver, neat piece!

G'day, you see a lot of these on Ebay-UK.
Quite a few have the 1965 Crown as their centrepiece, even though that was a CuNi coin.
That also gives you some idea of how recently these have been manufactured. I have seen some hallmarked upto 1972.

Peter, why 1965 crown exactly.. the '66 and '67 crowns are supposed to be more common I guess..

the 1965 Crown featured former Prime Minister Winston CHURCHILL: still remembered fondly by some.
