Hi regandon

Do you think you could have picked a series I have more problems with ?

MS-67 DMPL

I might have gone 68 if I could tell if the haze was on the holder or the coin.

I get in trouble with Morgans at this level,, I tend to overgrade, but I dont think I did this time .

Rick

regandon

My initial response was 66 . No kidding !!

No problem I learn each time I attempt these coins , I had questioned if the breast feathers were sharp enough for a 67 ,this was the only detail I had a question on so I went for it.

Thanks for posting the pics !!

Its a beautiful coin !!

Rick

You'd have gotten a little more response if you'd waited more than 50 minutes on Mother's Day for people to read the thread.

OK. Ever since I lost my wife last year I try to do things to keep my mined at ease, and it is forums like this that I turn to. I try to forget Mothers day because it hurts to see my daughter feeling so lost on this day. I jumped the gun. Never to happen again sir. It's on the side lines with me.

Hi Regandon, Don't sweat it. You can post a different coin every hour on the hour if it keeps your mind busy, and we'll just jump in and do our best when we have a moment. You might get answers right away, or you may have to wait a day or two. I know Dave didn't mean anything, he just wanted a chance to get it right on the button. He is GOOD, there's no doubt in my mind. Meanwhile, just to let you know, there's no side line sitting allowed around here!! You get in there and post away!! We look forward to seeing your beautiful coins!! Alice

This is a toughie since the images with the deep mirror and toning may hide bag marks or scratches, especially on the fields although I see what appears to be some blemishes on Liberty's face, but I'd guess the 85CC Morgan is MS-64 with DM (I wouldn't want to add "Proof-like" without seeing more pics.

Now to see what the other Morganphiles say...

Rest in Peace

I couldn't give it an MS-66 based on the images which is a fundamental problem with attempting grades from pictures (and also a basic problem with many ebay coin auctions). It's always so much nicer to have the coin in hand for an up close and personal look.

SuperDave is right - gotta give it a little more time for responses, especially since many of us who are interested in Morgans live in very wide time zones. My instance, however might be a little extreme. I try not to pass up a Morgan thread, but I'm so busy these days, I often can't get onto the forum but once every couple days.

Rick, you're getting better on Morgans! Nice call, but you forgot to automatically deduct two grades, especially with PCGS and MS Morgans.

WOW! you guys have alot more money to throw at coins than I do, I am stuck in the MS-64 zone here and when I see beautiful coins like yours it just makes my mouth water. With the wife I have if I am going to spend money like that I had better either be able to drive it or live in it lol. I have to kind of hide the cost on some of my MS-64 coins I have and most of them are less than 500.00 I would never be able to get away with having a nice specimen like that in my collection unless I won the lottery. It is a very beautiful coin and I thank you for the honor to see such a coin because without pictures like yours I would never even get to see such a beautiful coin

Believe me, I'm not awash in money and my passion for Morgans has put me into occasional (sometimes frequent) cash shortage problems, especially when I buy a Morgan one day only to have the price for gas go up another 25 cents the next day. In fact, the cost for gas has put a serious crimp in my coin purchases. My only advantage over others is that I no longer have a wife to lay a guilt trip on me for buying coins, insist I sell some of my coins so she can have some money, and spend my money on HER stuff. (Clothes come to mind; she could always shop for clothes at the local thrift store and I understand burlap bags are coming back into style. )
