The Elusive 1952-P BU Lincoln - Coin Community Forum

KenKat Pillar of the Community United States 4085 Posts	Posted 12/18/2009 7:29 pm I have been working on my Lincoln set, trying to get all Red or Red/Brown BU coins going back into the 1930's. Among the sea of red is a brown spot - the 1952-P. I've been looking and for some reason this one is scarce in BU. Mintages are a little lower than other dates, but not really low. What is it about this particular date? They seem to sell for quite a bit more than all the other dates in the neighborhood. Sure, I could just pay up and buy one, but I do love a bargain. Terror Of Zanarkand Valued Member United States 317 Posts	Posted 12/20/2009 6:21 pm That's a strange one to be so elusive. I'd think other dates would be harder, like the 1954-P and 1955-S. I'm no expert on Lincolns though. It's worth looking into. Report this Post to the Staff

The best I ever found on my own was one that I would consider a Fine grade. I did not record how much I paid for the 52P but it doesn't stick out in my mind as being terribly expensive. eddiespin Pillar of the Community United States 1547 Posts	Posted 12/21/2009 8:12 pm Ken, IIRC, 1952 stands out as a big loss-of-detail year on that obverse (ear, cheek, jaw, pretty much near smooth, comparatively-speaking). Never heard this particular one was that difficult to find in RD or RB, though. Next time I check my stock in RD and RB, I'll check that out. Now ya got me curious... Report this Post to the Staff
