Yesterday, I went to the coin shop and picked up the final three Franklin Halves I needed to complete my collection. I cannot believe I finished it before Christmas. Now I am unsure if I should try to collect Proof Franklin Halves.

Wonderful, I truely enjoy my franklin set, its one of greats and your completion of this set is a very worth while accomplishment.

do you have any of the franklin commems to garnish the set with?

PS. I have collected some of the proofs but found the mint state coins to be much more attractive, the proofs are largely idnetical in appearance unless you reach for the cameo proofs in which case find a second job they are spendy!

I would love to post pics, but my son accidentally dropped my camera. I am still undecided about adding Proofs yet.

Metalman, I have all 4 Franklin commemoratives in both Proof and Unc. 2 years ago I also added a gold 10 Euro Benjamin Franklin and a silver 1/4 Euro coin to my collection. I wanted to own a gold Benjamin Franklin coin to my collection and found that France issued one in 2006.

As for the Proofs, I would love to own all the Cameo Proofs, but my budget will not allow me to do that, so I'll settle for the regular proofs.

Congrats! It's always a great feeling to complete a set. I'd say if you enjoyed doing the Franklin set, and you love the coin, then go for the proofs! Proofs are always beautiful, I know I love them. But writing this reply has made me think that I need to get better about completing sets. I have one or two key dates for about 3 different U.S. series and that's where I stop. Oh well.

I usually do the same thing, I start off buying the keys first (if I can afford them). Then I end up forgetting about the series and move on to something else. I did the same thing with Mercury dimes. I bought the a 1916 D back in 2005 and I have done nothing with the series since then. If I put my mind to it, I could probably finish one series at a time, instead of bouncing from one to the next.

CONGRATS Spider on the complete set. I only need 3 more to finish my set: 49 S, 52 S & 53 S. Which ones were your final three?
