Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 06/02/2006 02:32 am That is a very interesting peice there rujam, I am wondering if that is some sort of "die adjustment" striked coin or maybe even a "capped Die" coin, either way it could be a valuable peice. I am not familiar with what would actually cause that myself unless it was something like that. I do however want to say "Welcome Back" I havent seen you post in a long time and was wondering where you had gotten off to. coppercoins Pillar of the Community United States 7629 Posts	Posted 06/13/2006 11:26 am Appears to be a capped die strike to me. The obverse die had a planchet stuck to it. As the die strikes additional coins, the obverse die strikes those coins through the planchet stuck to the die, resulting in either no design, or a muddied design depending on how long the cap has been stuck to the die and how thin it has become. A die cap is the coin stuck to the die, and capped die strikes are the coins struck by the die while it had another coin stuck to it. Report this Post to the Staff
