I thought that it would be fun to post this for everyone to try and figure out what's wrong with it. I know that my scanning is a little rough but, hopefully, you'll figure it out. The areas that look worn - are not really. Those portions of the coin are just actually more brown than red/brown. Let's try this and see what happens!

Well it looks maybe a filled die in some places? The the two 1's in 1971. And on the reverse with the A in states and OF. Also the memorial building looks like a weak strike I guess. The top is much more shiny than the one part in the middle.
Am I right?

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm - not what I was looking for, but good observations of other things wrong with it. Keep trying - it'll jump out at you and you'll go "duh" - like I did! It may not be AS obvious with my scan, but you'll see it - I have faith!
hint: It's a real error...something is missing.

It's on the Reverse and you were almost right with the "weak strike"...It's so weak that it didn't make it at all onto the coin. Try again!
(Oh I wish I could get it to scan better!) The darker parts of the scan are where the coin has browned and the rest of the coin is a red/brown. Does that make sense?

Correct madhandles761991!!!! The coin is such a weak strike that I too missed it the first time. I have looked at it with my 10x many times and the "E" just totally missed the coin. Great observation or the many hints that I gave. In any case, good job!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone
Filled die errors and struck throughs seldom carry much of a premium above face value.
They are pretty neat coins , and I collect them as I can from circulation ,or from Cent lots , but I do not go specifically looking for them to buy.

Normal business strike filled dies dont really have a premium. I believe that proof filled die coins do have a moderate premium because it rarely happens to proofs.

I paid a whopping .25 for the Pluribus Unum Cent only because I wanted to put it on the forum to see how everyone did in finding the error. They're fun to have but, no big money value.

Actually this is very common and completely normal for the high relief reverse years of 1969-1973. It's not really a weak strike to the point that it would be considered an 'error' and command a premium. If you look through a number of BU rolls from 1969-1973 you'll find that there are a vary vast number of them that will not have full roof or cornice detail. This part of the design problem was solved in 1974 with a lower relief design.
