Any ideas if the fed is going to allow melting copper coins any time this decade?

something drastic will have to happen for them to lift the melt ban. Like the price of copper soars and the Govt tries to remove copper from circulation for melting to try and pay down the national debt. The dollar drops to hear to for unfathomed levels throwing the dollar into hyper-inflation.. et cetera ....
But I don't think the ban will need to be lifted, if copper soars then having your pre 1982 cents will guarantee the purity of the copper. If that happens I think pre 1982 LMCs and LWCs will be traded as bullion.

It may be an optical illusion, but it appears that your table is bowing in the middle!

It's an "old" folding leg wood table, when they used to make things that lasted. John1

Yep. If you want to weight all the '82'S you find, some of them are copper as well. The copper ones will weight at 3.11g and the zinc are 2.5g. John1

coinundrum, Quote: Hehe nice...where did you get that many Lincolns? Color me jealous By searching a lot of boxes. I get about 20% to 25% coppers per box of cents I look through. John1

I have over $1700 face saved to date. Looking to make it to a ton ($3000 face) Had a little set back at Christmas time. My dad has been buying gold and silver and mentioned he would like to get some cooper but his eyes are to bad to see the dates so I wrapped up a $100 box and put under the tree for him.
