Update ..... Maybe 1/3 of the way through the change jar ..... hard to say for sure .. So far ... Total of 88 State Quarters that I judge to be clean MS coins ..... threw half as many back into the jar that had visual distractions or wear. I'm not keeping a super close eye on dates ..... but appears to be a nice mix across all decades of the series and for sure almost exclusively Philly mint coins. Came across six 1776-1976 Bicentennial Quarters .... set them aside .... not sure why. Have maybe a roll of copper cents so far. Only one dollar coin ..... the 1979 SBA I reported earlier. Lots of nickels! At this pace it's going to take me a while to complete the search phase of the project ...... but I'm having a lot of fun with it. David

Never had a basement, but if you start digging around here, won't be long before you hit water

nickelsearcher, Take all your time you need. I'll be in Pittsburgh, Pa next week to see my dad (94) until the end of the month. Regarding my list, I would not expect all, although I won't say no. Anything you can get I highly appreciated.
Afcop13, if you have basement there, you can farm fish or crocodile. be glad you don't.

holy mackerel, nickel; thems that's errr.........ahhmm.........hamminna hammina (Ralph Kramden) that's a lot of coins! have you considered buying a coin microscope? there are varying opinions about having/using/the need for one; BUT ! lemme tell you: it's a whole new beautiful world ! happy searching. If you come across any LWC 1909 DVDBs, I could use one. basements: shall I tell you horror stories of ruined coins and artwork stored in basements for too long?

I pushed hard last night to work on the search phase of this project ....... Now about 50% of the way through the jar ..... Lots of MS State Quarters ..... one minor MAD which I posted for comment in the error section. https://goccf.com/t/65434Three more gorgeous MS Zinc Lincolns ..... My pile of State Quarters is growing ...... I'm starting to feel the hope that there is a complete 50 coin set in there. Home from work and back to the jar! David

Wow .... spent a good part of my morning today to finish the searching of the jar ..... now it's time to sort my State Quarters. I ended up with 169 MS and eye-appealing State Quarters ..... and most likely threw as many back into the jar for reasons of visual distraction. Best quarter find was a 2005-S clad proof California ...... wonder how that got past me the first time and into the jar? Anyways ..... here we are .... There are my 169 MS State Quarters and my waiting Littelton folder ...... now I need to sort them into year/coin and choose the best. But that's for later ..... now it's time to mow the lawn before I lose the dog in the high grass. David

nickelsearcher said, "Best quarter find was a 2005-S clad proof California ...... wonder how that got past me the first time and into the jar?" Heck, an IHC got past me once, not that long ago..got past me at the point of sale; got past my pocket and into the jar.

Arrrgh ..... sorting by date is now complete and I came up short one (1) Quarter ...... missing the 2004 Wisconsin. No worries I say ... still a lot of fun ahead of me to pick the best of the rest and place them in my album. Suppose I need to buy/trade that Wisconsin .... maybe somebody out there needs one of my Philly Mint MS coins as trade? Anyways ..... next step is to pull out the 10x lighted magnifier and select the coin to keep from each year. Thanks for reading along with my Change Jar adventure! David

Hey Nickelsearcher, you came out with a lot more State Quarters than you thought. I know it the beginning you thought you would have more to work with trying to complete that coin album. I see your short a Wisconsin D mint, I checked my inventory of duplicates and I'm sorry to say that is one I don't have. Sorry I can't help you out . Is this your first State Quarter set you are putting together? Me I have been trying to completing mine for quite some time.
