Today I got out my 2x2 boxes that were somewhat in order starting with 1938 and ending with 2010. I had maybe 250 loose and mixed up coins here and there and it was getting to be a major procrastination not to mention an unsightly stack of stuff on a folding card table in my bedroom.
So I spent 5 hours blending them in and rotating the coins into order.
There are still some proofs and SMS and matte finish coins to organize but at least now I can go through these by date and mintmark and check out whether I can upgrade my set with any of the extras.
While I am going through each date and mint mark, I will be reading my books on varieties and RPM's. I'll also be re-evaluating which are unusual with having any steps or full steps. Then I will do my final sort and sell off my extras.
They are almost all pretty nice nickels, but too many to really enjoy.
I would say once it becomes a hoard, I would get bored, and they would be ignored instead of adored. ............ oh lord
