Bryan1315 Bedrock of the Community United States 14454 Posts	Posted 02/04/2011 1:47 pm you can send a coin that has spotted like you are talking about for review and if NGC determines it should be downgraded it would be covered under their grade guarantee. Now I don't think they guarantee copper coins like Lincoln Cents as the color designation but not 100% sure about that Report this Post to the Staff

Could this be true? That's exactly what they do. How much of a price difference there is between a 69 and a 70 is debatable though. My guess is you'd be looking at $100 to $200 for a downgrade to 69. I started checking some other coins from the same safety deposit box and also notice others with light spotting. I have had the box for over 20 years adding as I purchase coins. Any ideas on how to properly keep coins from the environment, long term? Report this Post to the Staff
Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6399 Posts	Posted 02/07/2011 02:57 am I keep a silica gel packet in my SDB and recharge it in my oven evey 2 months or so. That keeps humidity low and hopefully controls spotting. Report this Post to the Staff
