I need a 50.00 for my collection and was wondering if everything looked ok with this one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/CONFEDERATE-STA...em2a0f00b6e0

Also, where is the date located. What year is this one?

First stop whenever you're looking at Confederate notes should always be a bogus notes serial number list. There are several of them around; they all seem to be copying off each other. I believe the crutchwilliams list is the original and oldest.

The date on this particular note is beneath the portrait: Feb 17th 1864. Looking up $50 denomination with that date on the list, and this note (number 25452) is not listed. That means it's almost certainly a genuine note.

Thanks, Sap. Now that you point out the date it's pretty obvious, guess I'm going blind. Does 55.00 seem like a fair price to you?

I paid $50 for one 10 years ago, so $55 seems good to me, Then again maybe I got ripped off 10 years ago, LOL. If you like it get it.
