So I'm selling a few things on my local Craigslist and came across a few people with 1oz rounds looking to trade with what I'm selling. Thought that it would be a great way to get some silver without going through selling for dollars then buying rounds. The first guy seems to think silver is so "worth it" that I should give him $50 trade value per round since "we all know that it's going to get there." If you know of a sure fire way to make 25% on your money, put it all in buddy. Why are you trading the good stuff away? Crazy wacko. I'll give you $50 trade value when silver's at $50, not $40! Second guy asks to trade a single ASE for my $300 laptop. Wow that's an even more messed up valuation for a round if I ever heard of one.

the 25% above spot is strange, the ASE with value of $300 depends on if its a special one, maybe reverse proof or anniversary ASE with COA

Nope standard ASE. In fact the pic he sent to me was him holding it in his hands without "protection."

the world is full of strange people. I am in that group, but I am much better at placing a value on a standard bullion coin.

Yeah I've had terrible experiences on Craigslist - my advice, stick with ebay or coin community for your selling

Speaking of Craigslist, I remembered a funny story
I was trying to buy 40 Silver Eagles off this one guy - he wanted me to buy them for 1250, so I accepted.
I got there a little late (didn't feel so well that day)
I pull up to the local food store parking lot where we were going to do the trade, and there he is, CLEANING all 40 Eagles with EYE GLASS CLEANER and Hand soap.
Not to mention, none of the coins were in any type of case or container. He just had them thrown into his car naked, lol.
Needless to say these details were not given prior to meeting.
I kindly said I changed my mind and could no longer continue, sorry for your inconvenience.

If it was I would have still jumped at the deal cleaned or not they contain an ounce of silver you may not be able to command a premium for them in the future but you could still get melt value.

Why clean if they're not protected after? Strange people.

If you were sure they were genuine, I won't care if he were polishing them with steel wool, $31 each is a deal.

Additionally, I would think that anyone who is selling ASEs at $8 below spot might have acquired them via some mid-night activities that most folks would frown upon. It's not THAT hard to sell legit ASEs at spot.
