Whoa.

I'd like to know more about the mark under the eye, and I normally don't go this high based on small pics, but to me that's MS66 all day. The mark under the eye, and what looks like a little mark on the eagle's breast, are all that keeps that coin from 67. What a gorgeous coin.

Wow! Look at the creamy complexion on that girl! But I don't understand how she got the sun tan on only half of her head! She must be a blonde and it must have been a partly cloudy day.

That is one beautiful Morgan! Great eye appeal. I love any coin that jumps out and grabs me an forces that internal "WOW" response. This one did that! But I do have a soft spot for toned Morgans exhibiting some deep magenta and purples.

Even with the slight mark, I would give this an MS 66 PL. With more detailed photographs I may go higher. The photos are not helping on the PL part of my grade but the toning and haze speaks PL to me and so I will stick my neck out and say MS 66 PL at the least.

Being that it is in a PCGS holder, I would say they came back with a 64, but then I am the cynic when it comes to PCGS.

Thanks for the kind words, and boy, you guys are good! I didn't think anyone would be able to pick up the mirrors........well done!
BTW, I believe this girl to be undergraded by a full point. The 'scratch' below the eye is on the slab, the only marks on the entire obverse consist of a very slight rub above the eye and a very, very light mark in the left field by the star below the E. Both are only obvious under magnification. Originally part of the Fairchild Family Trust Collection and was a plated coin at the Goldberg auction of that collection in 2001.
Sooo, I believe you guys graded it more accurately than pcgs did!

We did. That coin is a prime upgrade candidate.

Having said that, the quality of the mirrors are the biggest problem with accurately grading from a photograph - there may be chatter in the fields hidden from view by the blinding luster.

Either way, this coin is an absolute keeper and one of the nicest I've seen posted here.

Yes sir. I would break it out and send it off for a regrade. Then I would break it out again and keep it after documenting it with some great photographs.

What a nice Morgan. Beautiful. My first reaction was MS66 and possibly PL. It definitely looks nicer that MS65.
