Today I went to a coin show and was on the hunt for Buffalo nickels I need. Most of them are coins priced over 5 dollars. I got to looking around at Liberty V nickels and bought 7 of them, along with 6 Buffalo nickels. I found that I can get most of the Liberty nickels in pretty darn condition for under 5 dollars. I think I am going to start working on these coins. Today my favorite pick up was a 1912 D for a dollar. I love nickels. Pretty happy for my little brother f16 as well. He grabbed a no date Shield nickel as well as a 5 cent silver canadian coin for 2 bucks. He loves the bargain bins and I think he came away with a nice deal today. Anyone try to put together a cheap set of Liberty nickels? Where are the sticky points, where might I get held up. |

1885,1886 and 1912s. Combined BV on these is $850 in good condition.
85'($480), 86'($228), 1912s($144)
You may find some deals but they wont be cheap. The rest of the set is easy.

cool, thanks. I could care less about the key dates, they would never be bought unless they were slabbed, and I wouldn't take them out of the slabs anyways.
I am going to put this set together!

If you like nickels, you should try the Canadian set from 1922 on. The variety of metals/drastic, yet classy design changes/and change back and forth from round to 12 sided make for a great looking lineup. They captivated me a long time ago b/c of this. Most of them are also very inexpensive - only 2 pricey ones, 1925 and 1926 "far 6." To me, I think Canadian wartime nickels with the Morse Code message, "We Win When We Work Willingly" included around the back rim are some of the greatest ideas for a coin design ever made. I think the majority of people have never realized this was included on the pieces.

No I went to the coin show in west seneca outside of Buffalo
also I have a set going of the canadian small cents (I am only missing about 6) 1920-present
I also am working on sets of dimes, nickels, quarters and halves from canada. I live close to the border so these coins are found quite easily in circulation by me.
Love me some nickels. They are cheaper then silver and just as cool

I bought a real nice starter set of Canadian nickels and built on it.
I can give you the sellers name if you PM me.
I had to buy the 1925 though and since I have been upgrading and buying the silver proofs and scarce mint marks.
I love my Canadian nickels and cents sets.

Canadian cents are interesting. There are so many varieties you have to watch for. Nickels in there own right are worth keeping just because of the metal content. I always seem to have trouble finding 1962-P nickels for some reason.

googoo is in NY and has the name googoo because one of the Goo Goo Dolls went to my high school.
I went to west seneca east which is where the bass player went.
the band is pretty big around the western ny area

i went to a coin show to with googoo and bought a 1907 liberty nickle, a 1906 liberty nickle, a no date shield nickle, and a 5 cent 1918 silver canidian. then they gave us a free uncerculated 1 cent piece and a free uncirculated 2009 log cabin piece

it was a blank cent and a 2009 D penny my brother and I got, which they passed out to kids as they came into the show. I got one too, probably because I was there with my brother and not many kids go to the coin show by us. I am one of the youngest people at 21 I would guess and I have never seen anyone close to my little brothers age. If I can get a picture of F16s no date Shield nickel I will put it up somewhere. He got it and the 5 cent canadian silver nickel for 2 bucks. He found quite a cool little deal I thought. Anyways, I am going to order the Liberty nickel dansco when I make my next purchase from online. I wait until I get a large sum of thing before I buy to save on shipping.
