Rewster Valued Member United States 208 Posts	Posted 04/27/2012 12:03 am I understand why the 1909-s VDB commands such a high price. But why doesn't the 1931-s command a somewhat similarly high price? It has production of aprx. 1,000,000 less than 1909-s non-VDB, yet I usually see these two coins in similar condition selling for a similar price on the 'bay. (just over $100.00) I understand it is a 20 year younger coin, but it's still a 80+ year old coin with only 866,000 minted. Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

oih82w8 Pillar of the Community United States 7840 Posts	Posted 04/27/2012 12:12 am From what I have heard, the news of the low mintage for the 1931-S got out and people hoarded them, which is why there is such a small difference in value in the higher circulated grades.
