I was invited to make an offer for two silver (possibly) Trajans. I don't think he was impressed with my £60 offer, but I really don't have a clue!

Can anyone suggest a fair offer?

In my opinion £60 is a fair offer. In extremely fine condition the coins would be worth significantly more but they look about VF to me so I would say your offer was about right.

I think $75 (50 pounds) would be about what I would pay for both.

Thanks echizento. Can't really lower the offer! He may get more on the bay.

I didn't intend to deride your offer. Personally I stopped looking to buy silver ancients over twenty years ago.
I will on occasion buy them but only if the price is 'wholesale' not retail and then the intent usually is to flip it.
Being on a limited budget choices have to be made. I would emphasize that I am a cheapskate !

Don't worry, I wasn't offended! I don't have any silver yet, possibly won't be getting any anytime soon
