2002 Bare Spot

On the coin with die breaks I found 12 coins and five with bare spots . The pattern of the beavers fir is definitely not formed as in other coins .

Some years are more prone to this type of error -- the early 60's, the later 70's into the 80's, and then more recent coins again. I'm not sure what causes it -- maybe worn or filled dies? I've seen far too many of them for it to be a grease-filled, etc, error. Again, Nice find! You should be able to find one of the same date with full fur and have a nice comparison set.

Thanks pennysaver . I found 13 with the full die crack and 5 with bare spots . Interesting to hear about these . Thanks for the info .

I've found a few with the bare back on beaver.
